Great skin is not a matter of DNA, but our daily habits have a big impact on our skin. We may suspect that we have oily, dry, or sensitive skin, but do you know your skin type? Using the wrong products or adopting the wrong internet hacks could worsen acne or other skin problems. No matter what the skin type is, daily skincare routine can help us maintain overall skin health and improve scars or dark spots.
For building an ideal skincare routine we must know our skin type.
Step 1: Know your skin type
Determining our skin type is the first step to know about its care.
- 1-Dry skin: Flaky, scaly, or rough
- 2-Oily skin: Shiny, greasy or may have big pores
- 3-Sensitive skin: May burn or itch after you apply some makeup or use any products
- 4-Normal skin: Balanced, clear, and not sensitive
Step 2: Steps for maintenance of ideal skincare
1-Washing and cleansing:
We should clean our skin once or twice a day and avoid washing our face frequently. Always choose a cleanser that does not leave our skin tight after washing and rub it between clean palms. Gently pat our face dry with a soft towel. Follow up a full-face gentle massage cleanse.
2-Apply toner:
If we use toner, apply it after cleansing your face. Pour a few drops of cleanser on our clean palms and gently swipe on our face. Hydrating formulas can be used twice a day.
3-Serums:
Morning is a great time to use a serum with anti-oxidants. Brightening serum like vitamin C protects our skin from chemicals. At night, retinol works best or we may use hyaluronic acid for anti-aging. Water-based serums should undergo moisturizers and oil-based serums should be applied after moisturizers.
4-Apply eye creams:
We can use a specialized eye cream that should be applied underneath a moisturizer. Try using an eye cream with a metal roller-ball applicator and store it in the fridge to counteract puffiness in the morning. Using a hydrating cream at night might cause fluid retention that makes eyes look puffy in the morning.
5-Moisturizer:
Moisturizer both hydrates skin and locks all other layers of products you have applied. Apply a lightweight lotion in the morning. In the evening, we can use a thicker night cream. Even oily skin needs moisturizer, but use one that is light-weight, gel-based, or does not block your pores. If you have dry skin, you must use skin cream twice a day.
6-Sunscreen:
Apply sunscreen with at least 30 SPF 15 minutes before heading outdoors, because it takes a while for sunscreen to activate. Darker skins need more sun protection because hyperpigmentation is hard to correct. Chose products that fit your skin types and always make sure to read the labels.
